155. David Houston AUSTIN¹⁰² was born on 18 Jan 1888 in Gravette, Benton Co. Ark.. He died on 27 Aug 1972 in Merced Co. Ca.. Dave was an Interpreter for Tahlequah, Cherokee Co., Oak and Sallisaw, Sequoya, Ok Courts. Also an interpreter and a scout for the U.S. Army at Fort Smith, Arkansas. When he went hunting he would thank his Animal Brothers for food for his family to live. In the latter years of his hunting, he would sit on a log and just enjoy the outdoors. Although he still gave thanks to his Brother deer, he would just keep sitting on the log. Dave had been trained as a Shaman by the Choctaw Nation.

David Houston AUSTIN and Minnie Ethel CHAFFIN were married on 12 May 1912 in Eldon, Cherokee Co. Oklahoma. Minnie Ethel CHAFFIN¹⁰² died on 20 Dec 1958 in Merced Co. Ca..
